David Guetta Heads Up Big Dance Week

Monday's typically a good time to give those dancing shoes—not to mention those dancing feet—a rest. Just don't forget where you put 'em; soon enough, you'll be back on the floor in front of one of the many DJs and electronic artists hitting the city this week. Here's a peek at some of the best dance events of the week ahead:

High Contrast and Noah D: Before there was dubstep, there was drum'n'bass: faster, wilder, with only a smidge of that stomach-churning low-end wubba. Whichever's your pleasure, The Mid will have plenty of either on hand Wednesday as drum'n'bass stalwart High Contrast and dubstep rising star Noah D meet for a midweek rumble. 10:00 p.m. $10.

David Guetta: Sure, even your mom knows him, now that the French DJ/producer's cut tracks for the likes of Black Eyed Peas and Taio Cruz. But your mom's not often wrong, is she? If you're looking to get your pleasure centers overloaded, you could do worse than Guetta, who hits the cavernous Congress Theatre Friday at 8 p.m.. General admission tickets are sold out, but VIP seating— complete with open bar— will run you a not-insane $100. Gotta feeling you might need a cab ride home. 8:00 p.m.

Passion Pit: The Bostonian indie-yelpers will leave their synths back in the practice space and step behind the wheels of steel at House of Blues Saturday in the latest installment of the Boys & Girls parties. You probably won't hear "Sleepyhead," but if you pony up for VIP tickets, you'll get early entry and a crack at Dark Wave Disco, Theo G and others before the Pit, Dani Deahl, Mustard Pimp and others hit the main stage. 10:30 p.m. $12-$27.

Art Department: Take in a master class in minimalism with Canadian techhouse duo Art Department, who hit Smart Bar Saturday night. The hotly tipped twosome blew plenty of minds in the dance underground last year on tunes like "Without You," and are set to release their cutely titled debut, The Drawing Board, next month. Catch 'em before they hit Guetta status. 10:00 p.m. $10-13, although you can save three bucks on admission by going here.
