After Julius Caesar's death, Cicero published the Philippics, a series of speeches attacking Mark Anthony, who had him put to death. 1777: British defeated at Princeton, N.J. by the American colonists . 1893: Birthday of American detective story writer, Rufus King . 1953: A plaque was erected at the Criterion Building,Picadilly, commemorating the meeting of Young Stamford, and Dr. Watson .
