Gavin DeGraw

Singer-songwriter, Gavin Shane DeGraw, is best known for his song “I Don’t Want to Be” the theme song to the popular television show One Tree Hill. Born February 4, 1977 and raised in South Fallsburg, New York, began his musical career with piano at the early age of eight, went on to attend Berklee College in Boston for one year before returning home to New York.
In 2001 Gavin released his live album, later producing three other albums Chariot, Chariot (Stripped), Self-Titled Gavin DeGraw and his Live at Soho EP by 2008. DeGraw chose to release his most recent album Free (March 31st 2009) after only two weeks in production, to keep from over thinking the structure of his song.
“My intention on FREE was to stay out of the way of the songs,” DeGraw says. “We kept the production very minimal in order to get everything that lies between me and the audience out of the way. By removing all the bells and whistles, you really make room for someone to pay attention to the songwriting.” - DeGraw
